Peru Project July
Overview
Between 2004 and 2006, Maranatha constructed nearly 100 church buildings in Peru to provide places of worship for the increasing number of congregations. As Seventh-day Adventist membership continued to grow in the country, Adventist Church leadership in Peru asked Maranatha to return in late 2019 to build more churches and schools. Peru was locked down for most of 2020 and 2021 during the pandemic. In 2022, restrictions were lifted, and a few volunteer projects took place in Peru. Later, social unrest led to Maranatha suspending projects in Peru again.
Despite the challenges, over 100 structures have been built in Peru in the last five years, and Maranatha has now selected the Rayanniyoc Church near the Sacred Valley for the July 9-20, 2026 Project. You can help build the walls for this new church. Depending on the skills of the volunteers who join the team, there may also be opportunities to conduct local community outreach, children’s programs, and health education.
Peru has many ecological systems, from the Pacific Ocean coastline to the Andes Mountains. It also has desert and jungle regions. The world’s largest river, the Amazon, starts in Peru and flows through Brazil before emptying into the Atlantic Ocean.
This upcoming project will be at an altitude of 9,500ft near the famous Machu Picchu.
