Excursions
MACHU PICCHU
Volunteers will take a trip to visit Machu Picchu! Machu Picchu is one of Peru’s most popular tourist destinations, located high in the Andes Mountains. The ruins of this ancient Inca city have been voted one of the “New” Seven Wonders of the World, and it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was originally built in 1450 as an estate for the Inca emperor, but it was abandoned during the Spanish Conquest. The ruins are truly a sight to behold, with the city set on a grassy plateau and the peak of Huayna Picchu behind it.
