AdventHealth: Hohenau, Paraguay Primary Care Mission Trip

Paraguay Medical Mission Trip – Fall 2025

AdventHealth Global Missions is organizing a primary care medical mission to Hohenau, Paraguay, from September 4 to 14, 2025. This mission trip is designed for healthcare professionals and volunteers committed to providing outpatient primary care services and health education to underserved communities in several Paraguayan villages. Participants will collaborate directly with local physicians, nurses, and pharmacists from Sanatorio Adventista de Hohenau, a hospital affiliated with the Seventh-day Adventist Church, which has been a mission partner since 2022.

The mission’s setting, Paraguay, is a culturally rich South American country known for its blend of Guarani and Spanish traditions. Despite efforts to improve healthcare infrastructure, many rural areas remain underserved, making this outreach particularly impactful. Volunteers will contribute meaningfully by addressing essential health needs and strengthening local healthcare efforts.

The trip itinerary includes five clinic days, cultural immersion, and excursions to the Iguazu Falls. Participants will depart from Orlando, Florida, and fly into Brazil before driving to Hohenau. The return journey begins on September 13, with arrival back in the U.S. on September 14.

The total cost of the trip is $2,500, which includes international flights, accommodation, transportation, meals, bottled water, excursions, travel insurance, and group tips. Payments are due in three installments: a $200 deposit upon acceptance, $1,150 by May 9, 2025, and $1,150 by July 18, 2025. Costs may vary slightly depending on the participant’s departure city.

Participants must have a valid passport (expiring at least six months after travel dates) and a Yellow Fever vaccination. While COVID-19 vaccination is not currently required, volunteers must comply with any future health requirements and safety protocols, including mask use. Accommodations will be in double-occupancy hotel rooms, with bottled water provided throughout. Wi-Fi may be available at hotels, and arrangements for international phone access should be made in advance.

The trip occurs during Paraguay’s spring season, with expected temperatures between 70°F and 91°F and likely rainfall. Volunteers are encouraged to dress modestly, pack lightly, and bring all personal medications and essential travel items. Scrubs or AdventHealth-branded attire are acceptable during clinic days.

This mission trip presents a unique opportunity to serve, learn, and build cross-cultural connections while addressing real healthcare needs in Paraguay.
